2017

Steve joined DJR in the summer of 2017 as an architectural intern while he was finishing his last year in graduate school at the University of Minnesota. Originally from Shanghai, China, and with a diverse cultural and academic background, Steve brings a unique set of perspectives on design and diversity to our team. Inspired by Bernard Tschumi’s The Manhattan Transcripts – ‘Architecture is not simply about space and form, but also about event, action, and what happens in space’ – as well as seeing the two vastly different worlds he has been living in – Steve was curious to explore how architecture and the built environment come into play in the world of “difference”, and wanting to use architecture as a tool to interpret reality, to address issues and conflicts and to empower people with choices.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys cooking, summer night biking, arts and crafts, tea and wine, films and performances, jazz music, anything representation, taking his adorable cat to the park, and many more interests yet to be discovered in his lifetime.
